Diversion steers youth away from the juvenile justice system. It is a voluntary process that offers youth the opportunity to take accountability for an arrestable offense and repair harm caused by an incident outside of the court system. This process focuses on repairing relationships, building connections in the community, and working with youth to resolve the situation and support long-term success.
The Coventry Youth Diversion Team are a group of community members, with representatives from DCF, the Coventry Police Department, and Probate Court. We know that youth make mistakes and want to support them in making better decisions. We offer them the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions and take steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
