Solar Permitting in Coventry

Roof Mount Solar:

In order to accept roof mount solar permitting in for review and approval of the Zoning and Building departments, you will want to first save any attachments for this permitting as PDFs. We require the following submissions:

1.     The following online ELECTRICAL PERMIT link for the permitting to be reviewed by the Town of Coventry Zoning and Building Departments: https://coventryct.portal.opengov.com/categories/1083/record-types/6431 Select Roof Mount Solar: Residential for the Permit For type. Fees are triggered once all the approvals are completed and you will receive notification through the online permitting portal. When you go in and pay, the permit will be issued. ONLY an Electrical Permit is required for this solar permit. The following are the required attachments:  

  • Stamped engineered plan of the Solar PV System and specifications (as well as batteries, if applicable)
  • Letter of Authorization for agent to pull permitting under the contractors licenses
  • Contractor’s  license (E1 & HIC) 
  • Worker’s Comp Insurance COI (Certificate Holder made out to: Town of Coventry, 1712 main Street, Coventry, CT 06238)

Ground Mount Solar:

In order to accept ground mount solar permitting in for review and approval of the Wetlands, EHHD, Zoning, and Building departments, you will want to first save any attachments for this permitting as PDFs. We require the following submissions:

1.     The following online ELECTRICAL PERMIT link for the permitting to be reviewed by the Town of Coventry Wetlands, WPCA, Zoning and Building Departments: https://coventryct.portal.opengov.com/categories/1083/record-types/6431 Select Ground Mount Solar: Residential for the Permit For type. Fees are triggered once all the approvals are completed and you will receive notification through the online permitting portal. When you go in and pay, the permit will be issued. ONLY an Electrical Permit is required for this solar permit. The following are the required attachments:  

  • Stamped engineered plan of the Solar PV System and specifications (as well as batteries, if applicable)
  •  Plot Plan with the proposed location of the ground mount solar and distances to property lines, any delineated wetlands, septic/sewer lines, well/public water lines
  • Letter of Authorization for agent to pull permitting under the contractors licenses
  • Contractor’s  license (E1 & HIC) 
  • Worker’s Comp Insurance COI (Certificate Holder made out to: Town of Coventry, 1712 main Street, Coventry, CT 06238)
