If you or someone you know is bitten by a dog, it is recommended that you do the following: 1.) If the owner is known, determine the current rabies vaccine status of the dog responsible for the bite. 2.) Identify where the bite incident occurred. Was it on the dog owner's property or did it happen elsewhere?
3.) Wash the wound area with warm, soapy water and seek appropriate medical attention.
4.) Contact your local Police Department or Animal Control Officer and provide a description of the incident, including the identity of the dog responsible.
