Some type of fast food chains similar to the Dunkin Donuts, perhaps a Mcdonalds, Wendys, or a Taco Bell would be a nice addition to the Town Of Coventry.

Being realistic that chains such as COSTCO or Target will not locate in more rural areas, what retail or service providers would you like to see in our town?

What has your experience been with Solarize Coventry, the Pro-Act Prescription Card and the Opt-in Energy programs? Should we continue these type of programs? Any ideas for new initiatives?

The Town is working with a study committee and CT Water to consider the construction of a water tower near the town hall, to allow a comprehensive water system which could provide fire protection in the Town Hall area and Coventry Village region, and eventually connect to other water systems in the lake region. What are your thoughts about this initiative?

Commercial space and capital equipment are huge stumbling blocks to new businesses. There has been increased interest in shared resource centers. For example- a commercial kitchen where people can rent time to prepare and package food to sell to the public. Or a technology and/or construction lab where people can prototype new inventions or create products with machines they couldn't otherwise afford (for example, flowjets and 3d printers). Resources can be rented out; but the benefit to the town would be attracting new talent and businesses to the area. It's no secret that we live in one of the most unfriendly business states in the nation. We need to foster business from the bottom up and this investment will more than pay for itself in the long run with jobs and tax revenue.

The Open Space Working Group has met over the past two years to examine the town’s experience with open space matters. The Group has finalized a draft report with analysis, findings, conclusions, recommendations as well as a series of value statements. At this time, the Town is seeking public input on the draft report. The questions listed below will provide necessary input and help guide the final draft report. Please contact Eric M. Trott, Director of Planning and Development, at etrott@coventryct.org or 860-742-4062 for more information.
1. Should the Town pursue the purchase of more permanently protected open space by municipal bonding methods?
2. If so, what type of open space properties do you feel are the priorities to be preserved – farmland, forests, riverine/floodplain, neighborhood based, other?
3. Should the Town dedicate more efforts and resources towards the management of open space properties?
4. If so, what priorities would you suggest be considered?

I’m sure not only would really good inventions help out the person or persons responsible for them but the town as well. Also it would possibly start a domino effect for others towns and maybe other states to want to be apart of this.
We are stronger if we are united, or at least that is what I believe.
It would defiantly be good publicity. I’m pretty sure the govt has grants for these kinds of things.
Inspiration and the pursuit of greatness is what we need to inspire people and when you get everyone’s minds working there should be nothing problem or task we can’t invent our way out of.

Many towns will split the annual vehicle taxes to be paid twice a year. Once at the mid-year point and the other at the end of the year. This makes life on people a whole lot easier from a financial perspective. It's pretty tough to dish out over $800 in vehicle taxes in one month, and quite frankly its not very fair to put that kind of burden on people in a 30-day period.
