Coventry Community Update October 2023
Coventry Storm Updates

Keep up to date during storm events with this real-time list.

TOWN MANAGER'S MESSAGE:

Temperatures are becoming a little cooler as we begin to enjoy the beauty of autumn in Coventry.  The leaves are turning and we are seeing pumpkins everywhere. This is a great time of the year to get out and experience all our Town and Connecticut’s countryside has to offer. Decorate a scarecrow. Take a walk on the Hop River Trail. Check out our Farmers' Market on Sunday mornings at the Nathan Hale Homestead. Maybe bring the kids to the Halloween on Main event in Coventry Village on October 21st.

The Town has been working to finish up the final touches on our second new softball field at Miller Richardson. This project received $500,000 of funding from the State of Connecticut’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grant. The Town has also been working to finish up on our long list of summer road construction and drainage projects before the weather changes.

We are still in hurricane season, which runs until December 1, and as the weather turns colder, the possibility becomes more likely for Coventry to experience winter storms and resulting power outages. You can keep up to date about known issues in real time by checking the Coventry Storm Update sheet (click on the image above, and bookmark it for future reference). Checking this sheet before calling to report a problem would be helpful in order to prevent duplicate calls to our dispatch staff. For more information about what to do in weather emergencies, see the Emergency Preparedness section of the Town website.

November is just around the corner, and our local Coventry elections are coming soon. Voting is one of our greatest civic duties we have as Americans. This year all polling sites will be at Coventry High School on November 7th.  If you can’t make it to vote in person, you can contact the Town Clerk’s office for an absentee ballot or apply online.  If you’re not registered, there is still time.  See the Registrar of Voters web page for more information.

Autumn is a busy season, I hope to see you out in the community.  Should you wish to contact me, please email JDrumm@coventryct.org or call the office at 860-742-6324. Frequent updates are also posted to the Town Manager’s Facebook page.

Sincerely,

James Drumm
